Urn Mechanics

Sunday OCTOBER 11, 2015| 11am-4pm

worlds end farm| ESPERANCE, NY | $850

Building large urn arrangements is one of our favorite things to do, but it seems that many designers are mystified as to the mechanics behind these giant masterpieces (without the use of flower foam!). This specialized class is designed for students with some knowledge of floral design looking to expand their practice and perfect their handle on large scale designs.

We'll start the class with a discussion of color and form, how these principles apply to designing a natural, loose floral composition; and then how these tactics are used to scale up to big sprawling urns.  Each student will claim a corner of Worlds End to slowly work out the mechanics and design of their own large scale urn arrangement. Cast iron urns from SAIPUA & Nicolette Camille's collection will be sourced. All student work will be photographed, intended to build-up their own floral portfolio.

Class will be held at WORLDS END FARM. All materials including clippers, flowers and a vase will be provided. Light lunch and refreshments will be served through-out the class to sustain our creativity.

Esperance is 3.5 hours from NYC and 45 minutes from Albany. Amtrak leaves from Penn Station in NYC every hour or so and stops in Albany. Students are welcome to camp on the farm. The Halcyon Inn is 10 minutes from the farm in Amsterdam, NY and The Best Western in Cobleskill is 25 minutes.

This class is open to students of all levels. Full payment is required to reserve your spot. This class is non-refundableMinimum of 8 students required.
