Schreiner's Iris Gardens, Salem, OR

Few flowers possess the delicate grace and striking form of this ruffled spring bloom with its water colored hues and flouncy petals. Limited to a mere couple of weeks in May, the bearded iris season is brief and beguiling.

This day-long intensive will feature two studies of the iris explored through painting and floral arranging. Noted textile designer/ painter Helen Dealtry will lead students through a morning session, interpreting iris specimens with watercolors. Students will observe and learn how to render flowers; Helen will elaborate on her painting techniques and approach to textile design.

After a beautiful lunch staged within the iris gardens, students will dive into floral arranging with renowned florist, Nicolette Camille. Special emphasis will be placed on flower selection, color blending and the mechanics of building a lush sprawling arrangement without the use of floral foam. Working with the very best of the Schreiner's specimens, along with a menagerie of other locally grown Oregon flowers, students will receive in depth one-on-one instruction as they build their own rambling garden style arrangement.

OPEN TO ALL LEVEL OF FLOWER LOVERS: No previous floral/painting experience is required. Students will take home their paintings and their floral arrangements. All materials including: clippers, flowers, vase, watercolor, paper and painting tools will be provided. Class will begin with a private tour of Schreiner’s. Lunch, light snacks and refreshments will be served during class.

The cost of this full day workshop is $1,450 per person.

PLEASE NOTE: CLASSES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE OR TRANSFERABLE.
